Overcoming Regrets

Note: Regret is a universal human experience.

Note: Many people live in the shadow of their past mistakes rather than the light of God’s grace.

Note: The Bible provides guidance on how to move beyond regret and embrace God’s plan.

Philippians 3:13–14

13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,

14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Note: I think that Paul had some regrets.

Note: He had persecuted the church of God and wasted it, the Bible says.

Note: He had physically harmed and killed believers.

Note: I am sure that it weighed on his mind.

Note: He said that God had mercy on him because he did it in ignorance.

Note: Paul, no doubt, thinking about his past.

Note: Gives us sound advice.

Note: it’s forgetting and moving forward.

Note: The word forget doesn’t mean having a lapse of memory. It means not allowing the past affect our present.

Note: Reaching forth. Is to move forward in the grace that God provides.

Note: The Children of Israel were trapped at the Red Sea and the Egyptian army. They were stuck. They started to whine to Mosses and regret the decision that they made.

Note: But God gave clear instruction to Mosses.

Exodus 14:15

15 And the Lord said unto Moses, Wherefore criest thou unto me? speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward:

Note: God wants us to move forward?
