God is Greater Than Our Heart Sermon (1 John 3:1-21)

1 John 3:1-21

Note: I want us to notice the expression in verse 20. The Bible says that God is greater than our hearts.

Note: One of the wonderful blessings of the Christian life is to have assurance or confidence in our Salvation.

Note: To be confident in our standing before God.

Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.”

Note: To boldly approach God in the difficulties of our life is vital to our success as believers.

Note: Sin robs us of that wonderful confidence in Christ.

NoteThis is the Subject that John is speaking about

Note: It’s my intention to allow the Bible to speak to us and revive that confidence that we need as believers today.

Note: God is greater than our own hearts.

Note: The heart is a great study in the Bible.

Note: It’s the core of our being.

Note: It’s our will, emotions, and our motivations.

Note: David said in Psalm 57:7.

Psalm 57:7 “My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed: I will sing and give praise.”

Note: He said in Psalm 73:26.

Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart faileth: But God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.”

Note: Because of sin, the heart has been defiled and in itself is not a good compass for our life.

Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?”

Note: This is John’s message in this wonderful Epistle.

Note: But before we get to the heart of the matter.

Note: John establishes the truth of Salvation to help us understand why its so important to have your feet established in the truth.
