Alive Forever More: Resurrection Sunday! (Revelation 1:12-20)

Before His Death,

Mohammad said, I Don’t Know the Purpose of Life.

Buddha said, Seek for Truth.

Confucius Said, I am not the way.

Before His death Jesus said, I am the way the truth and Life, no man cometh to the father but by me.

We are thankful that Jesus bleed and died for our sins. But Jesus Didn’t stay in a grave.

He is a risen Saviour.

At the battle of Inkerman in 1854 a soldier was just able to crawl to his tent after he was struck down.

When found, he was lying upon his face, his open Bible before him, his hand glued fast to John 11 by his life-blood which covered it.

When his hand was lifted, the letters of the printed page were clearly traced upon it, and with the ever-living promise in and on his hand, they laid him in a soldier’s grave.

The words were: “I am the resurrection and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live.”

  • The Book of Revelation is a book of prophetic truths.
  • John is commanded by God to write down what he saw.

What HE saw was the LORD JESUS! The RESURRECTED CHRIST.

When Sir Michael Faraday (a great scientist from the 1800s), was dying, some journalists questioned him about his speculations for a life after death.

“Speculations!” he said, “I know nothing about speculations.

I’m resting on certainties

I know that my Redeemer liveth, and because He lives, I shall live also.”

Note:  The Lord Jesus Christ in this passage introducing Himself to John “I am he that liveth”

NoteThe one who was dead

NoteFor He is alive forever more
Note
We serve a Risen Saviour
Note: We serve a Resurrected Saviour

Every founder of every religion that has ever existed has died. Yet Jesus is alive.

Paul Describes our condition if Christ is not raised:

 1 Corinthians 15:16-20
 16 For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised:
 17 And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.
 18 Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.
 19 If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

Jesus conquered death, sin and grace.

He was crucified and buried – but my friend he won the victory when he was risen from the grave on the third day.

In Jesus Christ we can be a redeemed people.

Because Jesus is alive.

A woman had a daughter who had become a Christian. She was of a religion who leader they buried in a grave. This daughter was taken sick and died when she was sixteen years old. The mother sought the missionary and asked: "What did you do to our daughter?" "We did nothing," said he. "Oh, yes you did," persisted the mother;

"she died smiling. Our people do not die that way."

 Alfred H. Ackley tells of one evening hosting evangelistic services at a church. A sincere young Jewish man asked him “WHY SHOULD I WORSHIP A DEAD JEW”

That question pressed upon the heart of Alfred Ackley – His answer led Him to write the hymn:

We serve a risen Saviour,
He's in the world today;
I know that He is living,
Whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy,
I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him
He's always near.

He lives, He lives,
 Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and He talks with me
Along life's narrow way.
He lives, He live, salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives:
He lives within my heart.

Note: Job prophesied of a living Saviour. It’s the oldest book in the Bible.

Job 19:23-25
 23 Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were printed in a book!
 24 That they were graven with an iron pen and lead in the rock for ever!
 25 For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:

Let’s notice our Scripture together:

Revelation 1:12-20
 12 And I turned to see the voice that spake with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks;

 13 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.

 14 His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire;

 15 And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.

 16 And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp twoedged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shineth in his strength.

 17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:

 18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
